On May 3, seven international students and members of the Group MORI participated in a tea ceremony at Shiogama Shrine. It was the first experience for most of the international students to participate in a tea ceremony (chanoyu), and they were a little nervous. They enjoyed the experience and I think it was a valuable experience for them. After strolling through the shrine grounds and descending a long flight of stone steps, the sound of a flute could be heard coming from somewhere, so we looked for the source of the sound, which turned out to be a box on a high place,
After a few moments, the box opened, and a karakuri doll began to spin, followed by another one, which was a sight I had never seen before. After a gelato at a soy sauce shop near Honshiogama Station, the owner kindly allowed us to observe the fermentation process that produces soy sauce. It was another valuable experience for us.
